When Impulse Turned Into an Unforgettable Night

ree

In 2014, we organised the first festival-scale editions of our Lights OFF events.Back then, Hungary had only a handful of large, youth-focused festivals, while our own shows were already drawing 5–10,000 people on a regular basis. It felt like the right moment — the moment to bring our first international headliner.

Our original choice was obvious: DVVBS.Tsunami was exploding everywhere, their tracks ruled every club, every party, every festival. A perfect match, a guaranteed sellout.

But then a new sound hit the radio.A calm, hypnotic deep-house wave:“Waves (Robin Schulz Remix).”

And just like that, everything changed. We called our booking agent immediately:“Get us Robin Schulz.”

No hesitation. We accepted the fee on the spot — even though it swallowed 40% of our entire festival budget, and even though DVVBS alone would have sold the event out. I threw in all the money I had just to bring him to Hungary.

And yet, ironically, I still missed his entire first set, running around dealing with logistics and coordination.

Robin arrived as the “sunglasses guy,” humble, quiet, originally booked not even for the main stage, but for Stage B. He played his show — and we barely saw a second of it.

At around 3:50 AM, after hours of chaos, we finally exhaled.Rain was falling lightly.1–2,000 people were still bouncing in front of the main stage to Purebeat Lacika’s closing set, while hundreds more were slowly walking toward the exit.

We were joking with Robin backstage that he could even play one more set on the main stage. He didn’t laugh. He stood up.

Without a single question, he grabbed his controller, walked straight to the stage, and began plugging it in — with zero help from any technician.

I went straight to Lacika — who, like the absolute professional he is, stepped back instantly and handed the decks over to Robin Schulz without a second thought.

I climbed on stage, grabbed the microphone, and made the announcement.

And right then, the hundreds of people walking toward the exitturned around and ran back to the main stage.

There we were:the entire crew, finally together, everyone who had missed Robin’s official set — including me, the guy who risked everything to bring him here —and Robin himself, giving us 30 minutes of pure magic in the rain at dawn.

That was the moment everything came together:the music, the crowd, the team, the madness, the risk, the reward.

These are the memories worth chasing. And these are the moments we continue to hunt for — with SkyFall.
